Lampard ‘proud’ of Everton stars who are ‘building in confidence’ following ‘deserved win’

Frank Lampard believes his Everton side are “building in confidence” amid their run of winning two league games in a row.

After drawing against Leicester and being beaten by Liverpool, Everton returned to winning ways last weekend as they defeated Chelsea 1-0.

The Toffees were back in action as they faced Leicester City again. This time it was at The King Power Stadium.

Nketiah may not be *the* answer for Arsenal, but he can compress Arteta’s ‘process’

Everton went a goal ahead in the sixth minute as Vitaliy Mykolenko’s volley from the edge of the box found the net.

Leicester equalised soon after but Lampard’s men restored their lead in the 30th minute. Mason Holgate netted via a corner from Demarai Gray.

The visitors hung onto their advantage in the second half to pick up a huge three points.

With Leeds losing to Arsenal, Everton are now out of the bottom three. They are one point above the relegation zone and they have a game in hand over Leeds and Burnley.

Speaking post-match, Lampard praised his players as they “deserved” to beat Leicester City:

“They all are [emotional games] at the moment, there’s so much on the games. We’re fighting together. It was a tough game and tough opponent but we deserved it. We created chances, rode our luck at times. It’s important to enjoy these moments but there’s a lot of work to do,” Lampard said (quotes via BBC Sport).

“I’m really pleased for [Mykolenko], for all that’s going on for him at home, he’s done incredibly. It was great to get in front so early in the game.”
