Lampard can land his very own Gnabry with Everton bid for "extraordinary" £50m wizard - opinion

Everton had a very slow start to their transfer window but they are certainly making up for it this week, with two new arrivals joining James Tarkowski at Goodison Park.

The signings of Dwight McNeil and Ruben Vinagre were both confirmed this week, which has given the Toffees a great boost in bolstering their squad following the departure of Richarlison this summer, but there is still a lot of work to be done.

It is no secret that the Toffees struggled last season, finishing with their joint-worst ever campaign based on points per game, struggling in a relegation battle until the penultimate match of the season and suffering arguably the worst injury crisis of any team in the Premier League.

As a result, Frank Lampard will be desperate to find solutions to ensure that the Toffees don’t find themselves in a similar situation when they return to action next week, and taking advantage of the transfer market is the perfect way to improve upon and move on from the mistakes of the past.

One player who has been linked with a move to the blue half of Merseyside this summer is Lyon playmaker Lucas Paqueta, who was hailed “extraordinary” by his manager Peter Bosz, and his prospective signing could be a huge coup for Everton.

Over 35 appearances in Ligue 1 last term, Paqueta scored nine goals, contributed six assists and created nine big chances, making 1.2 key passes and 1.9 tackles, taking 2.5 shots and winning 7.3 duels per game, along with successfully completing the majority of his dribbles (69%).

Lampard could even land his very own Serge Gnabry, with the Bayern Munich star named as one of the most comparable players to the Brazilian attacking midfielder over the last 12 months according to FBRef.
