Kylian Mbappe is being outperformed by striker who could be perfect for Liverpool's long-term plans

The international break might mean a pause in Premier League action, but many clubs will still be working hard behind the scenes over these next two weeks as they plan ahead for this summer’s transfer window.

There are very few flaws within the current Liverpool squad, meaning additions are likely to be minimal. However, it’s possible that we could see at least one new forward player added to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

The attack has been a huge focus for Liverpool in recent transfer windows, with both Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz proving recent successful additions to the team. However, as it stands each of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all have contracts that are set to expire at the end of next season.

Liverpool officials are working hard to tie Salah down on a new deal, although negotiations do look to have stalled. While no extensions have as of yet been offered to either Mane and Firmino. There is every chance then that both leave next season, along with Salah if no resolution is found.

Reinforcements will then be needed, and with that in mind, one player who could catch Liverpool’s eye is Rennes attacker Martin Terrier. The 24-year-old has enjoyed an excellent campaign so far, however outside of France the same has largely gone unnoticed.

He has already played for some of France’s biggest clubs including Lille and Lyon. but didn’t really excel with either. This is one of the reasons why he’s still yet to have been called up to the French national team, despite being a regular at U21 level.

In the summer of 2020, he joined Rennes from Lyon for just over £10million. Although it looked like a fair fee for both clubs at the time, fast forward to now and Rennes will undoubtedly feel like they got the better
