Kyle Walker believes Manchester City go into a pivotal week of the season knowing they can hurt their opponents with their attacking play.

City are halfway through a slog of a schedule facing the same teams they played last week, taking on Atletico in the second leg of their Champions League tie before heading to Wembley to play Liverpool for a place in the FA Cup final. Pep Guardiola's team are unbeaten from the first week, beating Atletico 1-0 before taking a 2-2 draw from their Premier League clash with Liverpool.

And if there is disappointment at being pegged back twice by their biggest rivals for the league title, the Blues will take positives from the fact that they created so many chance against Liverpool. Riyad Mahrez and Kevin De Bruyne both hit the outside of the post, Virgil van Dijk cleared a goalbound Gabriel Jesus effort and Raheem Sterling was millimetres offside when his goal was disallowed on review.

“It was two good teams going toe-to-toe in a very important game. We are still top of the league and we are probably disappointed we didn’t go and get the three points," said Walker.

"I said it in an interview this week that it is like a game of chess with two quality teams going head-to-head. They can punish you at any time. I thought we caused them so many problems up front with the runs in behind and it is something that we can build on now going into this important week we have got coming up."
