Kyle Walker didn't care about being abused by Atletico Madrid fans

Manchester City are through to the semi-finals of the Champions League after a battle display against Atletico Madrid.

Everyone knew Diego Simeone’s side would make it extremely difficult for City and we probably should be surprised at what unfolded.

To be fair to the Spanish side, they put Pep Guardiola’s men under immense pressure. They will be wondering quite how they didn’t score in the 90 minutes.

But what happened in the final minutes of the matchand in the tunnel – left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth.

City won’t care too much, though.

Their task was the qualify for the last four of the competition – and they’ve done just that.

However, it wasn’t a perfect night.

Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker both left the pitch with injuries, while Phil Foden picked up a head injury.

With Liverpool at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday, City will have to recover quickly.

Although it seems unlikely we’ll see Walker against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Walker twisted his ankle awkwardly while trying to clear the ball and, despite trying to play on, had to be replaced by Nathan Ake in the 73rd-minute.

But Walker wasn’t interested in being stretchered off after being subbed. And as he was playing right-back – the opposite side to the dugouts – he had to walk around the entire pitch back to the City bench.

That meant walking past the raucous home crowd.
