Krueger tops an all-Norwegian top 10 in Oslo for cross-country gold

Simon Hegstad Krueger secured World Cup gold in the men's 50km mass start race in Oslo, with all of the first ten finishers from Norway. Krueger claimed top spot in his hometown of Oslo, 5.7 seconds ahead of Hans Christer Holund, while Martin Loewstroem Nyenget took third, 12.6 seconds off the pace. Ad Krueger's victory comes a week after being left out of the Norway team for the World Cup five-mile race.

The first non-Norwegian skier to cross was Brit Andrew Musgrave, who finished more than two-and-a-half minutes behind Krueger. «It was very tough,» said Krueger.

«Me, Holund and [Iver Tildheim] Andersen had good speed and changed skis a round before everyone else. »I think that was the winning move. It is big for me to win this race.

«I'm also thinking about why I wasn't allowed to run the WC five-mile, I can honestly say that. »I was extra eager to fight back today. It tasted extra good to win." Next weekend will see a World Cup sprint take place in Drammen.
