Knee injury rules Haaland out of Man City, Liverpool clash
Manchester City will be without top scorer Erling Haaland for Sunday’s Premier League clash against leaders Liverpool due to a knee injury.
The Norwegian suffered the issue in the closing stages of last weekend’s 4-0 win over Newcastle and sat out City’s Champions League exit to Real Madrid in midweek from the bench.
Haaland is not named among Pep Guardiola’s substitutes as the City boss makes four changes from the side that was comfortably beaten 3-1 in Madrid to round off a 6-3 aggregate defeat to the European champions.
Nathan Ake, Rico Lewis, Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku return in place of Ruben Dias, Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gundogan and the injured John Stones.
Liverpool can open up an 11-point lead over second-placed Arsenal with their first league victory at the Etihad in a decade.
Arne Slot makes just one change from the side that drew 2-2 at Aston Villa on Wednesday as Luis Diaz replaces Diogo Jota up front.
