Liverpool welcome Leeds United to Anfield on Wednesday night as they look to close the gap on Premier League leaders Manchester City to just three points.

The Citizens’ defeat at the weekend has well and truly opened the door for Jurgen Klopp’s side to make a real go of it in these closing months of the season, and a home clash against a wounded Leeds represents a great chance to pick up another win.

While Klopp may be reluctant to make too many changes to the side that eventually beat Norwich 3-1 a few days ago, one player he must surely drop from his starting line-up is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The England international has struggled to really make his presence felt at Anfield, with injuries once again taking their toll on him just like they did at former club Arsenal – he has managed just 131 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side since joining several years ago.

Liverpool fans have been particularly critical of his performances this season, with a few slamming him after his display against West Ham in the Premier League and some taking aim at his display against Brentford earlier this year.

And after looking like he came back into a bit of form with back-to-back goals last month, he delivered a truly below-par display at home to the Canaries at the weekend.

As per Sofascore, he lost possession 12 times in the 62 minutes that he was on the pitch before he was hauled off for Thiago, had no shots on target, provided no key passes, and saw none of his eight attempted crosses find the mark.
