Klopp goes back to basics to try and lift Liverpool gloom

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits his side will have to go back to basics in order to solve their current problems.

A sixth Premier League defeat of the season at Brighton has left the Reds 10 points adrift of the top four, but with an FA Cup replay at Wolves to face on Tuesday there is little time to correct the issues.

Klopp said the thing they had to be was more difficult to beat.

"To play better football than we did at Brighton should not be too difficult. We have to go back to basics and from there you can make steps. We have to be more compact," he said.

"These are football problems and you sort them with football. We have to play better, we have to defend.

"We have to do some things slightly different and some things the same."

Meanwhile Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui refused to discuss any incoming transfers as he remained cautious over new arrivals.

The head coach shut down any talk of signings ahead of the clash with Liverpool.

Paris St Germain head coach Christophe Galtier has confirmed attacking midfielder Pablo Sarabia is poised to move to the Premier League, with Molineux his expected destination.

Flamengo midfielder Joao Gomes is also a target, with Wolves having already signed Matheus Cunha on an initial loan from Atletico Madrid.

"We will see, it's true we have interest in some players but when they are here and our players we can talk about them, not before," said Lopetegui.

"I want to put the focus on our players. We don't want to waste energy on other things. We will talk only about our players."

No deals are imminent ahead of the third-round replay with Liverpool at Molineux.
