Kieran McKenna makes Ipswich Town selection admission

Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna has told the East Anglian Daily Times that he will continue to look to rotate his side’s forward options moving forwards. 

At present the Tractor Boys have an embarrassment of attacking options, with the likes of Joe Pigott, James Norwood, Macauley Bonne, Conor Chaplin, Sone Aluko, Bersant Celina, Kayden Jackson and Tyreese Simpson being at the manager’s disposal.

However the former Manchester United coach has continued with his policy of rotating his forward players, with the tactic resulting in some good outcomes in recent games as the League One side continue to gain momentum.

Now McKenna has offered an update on his selection plans, as he stated the following recently:

“It’s nice to have those options tactically. It’s nice to have the personnel who can play in different ways. It probably makes us harder to play and prepare against and enables us to look at these games as they come and think in what way we can use the resources at our disposal the best.”

Bonne is the only player to have established himself as a regualr starter out of the plethora of attacking options at Portman Road and has certainly set a great example for his teammates.

Meanwhile the likes of Pigott and Jackson have struggled for game time throughout the duration of the campaign so far.

The Verdict 

It is a tough ask to please so many attacking players but McKenna is certainly doing a good job of it so far and is certainly reaping the rewards on the pitch.

Ipswich can play badly in matches and still be safe in the knowledge that they have plenty of players on the bench that can come on and make a game changing impact when required.
