Khaldoon Al Mubarak promise will reassure Man City fans as six key players linked with transfer exit

Not even an hour had passed after Manchester City achieved footballing immortality in Istanbul, and Pep Guardiola was discussing how to defend their treble.

His senior players echoed the sentiment of challenging again next season for the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup, as well as the Carabao Cup. City also unlocked the chance to play in the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup by winning in Turkey last week.

City want to do what they did after they won the Premier League in 2012 - go and do it again, consistently. They have finally reached the peak of Europe and want to put down foundations to do it again. They will also want to become World Champions, however flawed the Club World Cup format is.

To do that, however, they may have to embark on a summer rebuild. If reports and rumours are to be believed, City could lose two members of their captaincy group, three more key members of their treble squad, and another £60m-rated full-back.

Ilkay Gundogan won't make a decision on his City future until after the international break this week but could leave on the expiry of his contract, while Bernardo Silva looks set to seek a departure for the third summer running.

Both midfielders started in the FA Cup and Champions League finals, while Riyad Mahrez and Kyle Walker played key roles en route to those finals. Mahrez has been linked with a transfer to Saudi Arabia, although he insists he is not currently thinking of a transfer, while Walker has spoken to Bayern Munich after being left out of the Champions League final.

He could replace loanee Joao Cancelo, who may well look for an exit. Pep
