Khabib vs McGregor: The first 60 seconds after tap-out were truly chaotic

When it comes to chaotic sporting moments, Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor at UFC 229 is number one.

The fight’s aftermath is regarded as one of the most notorious incidents in sport.

After choking out McGregor in the fourth round, the famously chivalrous Russian vaulted the Octagon and made a beeline for his rival’s team.

Khabib was seen hurling his mouthpiece in the direction of McGregor’s team as soon as the fight was deemed over.

According to commentator Joe Rogan, he then engaged in a war of words with Dillon Danis, his opponent’s Jiu-Jitsu coach.

Security forced their way through the crowd to remove The Eagle from the melee. The pandemonium continued as members of Khabib’s team entered the Octagon and made a move on McGregor.

Speaking on Submission Radio, Khabib explained his dislike for his rival’s staff, but insisted he went for Danis because the other coaches were “too old”.

Khabib said: “I jumped on him because other corner is too old; because Conor’s other corner, other coaches, too old, and that’s why I jumped on him.

“If I jumped on [coach John] Kavanagh, I don’t think it’s too — cause Kavanagh can’t fight me. That’s why I jumped on [Danis].

“I don’t like his whole team. I have choice what I’m gonna do, but all other old coaches were too old for me. They cannot fight with me. They’re almost like my father’s age.”The Dagestani fighter had said in the lead-up to the fight that he would not shake McGregor’s hand afterwards.

It was reported that the Nevada State Athletic Commission had fined Khabib half of his winnings and banned him for nine months.
