Khabib Nurmagomedov: Rare footage of him training in Dagestan mountains

Khabib Nurmagomedov is arguably one of the greatest fighters to ever step into the Octagon.

With a record of 29-0 in MMA, there’s no doubting he is a true great across mixed martial arts and specifically within the UFC.

Hailing from Dagestan, Russia, a lot of his success can be pinned on his upbringing.

When Khabib first started making headlines in the UFC, video footage of him wrestling with a bear when he was younger was stumbled upon. Most probably no older than eight, Khabib is videoed rolling around with the bear in what doesn’t solely seem playful.

It is this sort of unique upbringing for Khabib, and many of his cousins and close friends, that has propelled so many from the Dagestan area into MMA stardom.

These days, Khabib has retired from fighting and spends a lot of his time coaching in the corner of various Russian fighters. He has also just set up his own MMA promotion Eagle FC, which he is hoping can be the steppingstone for many young fighters who are looking to make it to the UFC.

However, before he started to coach and promote, he was a real menace to the lightweight division, causing serious issues for talented and experienced fighters with his wrestling.

A rare video has recently surfaced of what appears to be a young Khabib training in Dagestan alongside his peers. The video begins with his alarm going off and awakening him and his training partners.

They then begin their gruelling exercise, which starts with intense sprints up a mountain, presumably in the Caucasus region.

Once in the mountains, the training starts with circuits involving squats, sprints, pull ups and a bit of weight-lifting.
