Key dates in Championship promotion race as Nottingham Forest right in the mix
This year’s race for promotion shows the Championship to be as competitive as ever, with Nottingham Forest among a clutch of clubs battling for a place in the top six.
Just 10 points separate the ninth-placed Reds from Bournemouth, in second, as teams head towards the business end of the season.
Forest head coach Steve Cooper has said he expects plenty of “twists and turns” before the campaign reaches its conclusion in May, with the make-up of the top six likely to keep fluctuating in the coming weeks.
The table is starting to level off somewhat, in terms of number of games played, after the festive period, in particular, saw a number of postponements.
However, third-placed Huddersfield Town, for instance, have played 35 matches, while the Cherries are on 31.
The Reds, like the majority of teams in the top 10, have played 33 games, having recently seen their trip to Bournemouth called off.
We’ve taken a look at the list of games in hand that still need to be played by the Championship’s top 10.
