Kevin McStay to continue as Mayo football manager
Mayo County Board have confirmed that senior football manager Kevin McStay will continue in his role for 2025.
After a disappointing 2024 championship – pipped by Galway in a Connacht final before coming unstuck against a stuttering Derry side in a penalty shooutute defeat in an All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final – a County Board review has concluded and McStay will oversee a third season in charge.
The former Roscommon manager enjoyed a league triumph in his maiden season, but provincial success has eluded his team. McStay's first championship campaign concluded with a 12-point quarter-final defeat to Dublin in Croke Park.
The Ballina man was appointed in 2022 on a four-year term, but there had been speculation in the aftermath of the loss to Derry that the former All-Star might step away.
