Kevin De Bruyne gives verdict on preferring Premier League or European glory for Man City

Kevin De Bruyne would rather win the Premier League than the Champions League this season — despite never having lifted the most prestigious trophy in Europe.

Manchester City have won three of the last four league titles in England but have struggled in the premier continental competition. They made it to the final for the first time last season but lost 1-0 to Chelsea, with De Bruyne's experience particularly unpleasant as he was briefly knocked out after an on-field challenge and spent the night in a Porto hospital.

This season the Blues are still in the running to achieve both of their main aims, sitting ahead of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League and taking a 5-0 advantage into the second leg of their last 16 clash in the Champions League. And while the club are desperate to finally break their duck in Europe, De Bruyne still thinks another league title would be more satisfying.

In the Champions League you need to be good, but then in certain times it is more of a lottery and a little bit of luck involved compared to the league as there is way more games. Whatever you will give me, I will take!”

Liverpool are the only side to have stopped City winning the title in the last four years, and look like the only team capable of doing it again. Jurgen Klopp's team have taken advantage of recent blips from the Blues to close the gap, adding more expectation to when the teams meet at the Etihad
