Kenny Miller in Rangers 'soul destroying' verdict as pundit pulls no punches over Liverpool pummelling

Kenny Miller fears Rangers thumping at the hands of Liverpool will be "soul destroying" for his former team.

The Ibrox hero was the last man to find the net in the Champions League before this evening when Scott Arfield ended the 12-year for a goal in the competition. But the opener was not enough to see off Jurgen Klopp's side, who slotted seven by Allan McGregor in front of a gutted home support.

And Miller reckons the result, which is Rangers' heaviest ever competitive defeat, will be a bitter pill to swallow. The loss means the Ibrox side will bow out of the elite European competition after the group stage, with no wins so far.. The sting was made even worse as Connor Goldson hobbled off with an injury before being spotted on the sidelines on crutches. Ryan Jack was also forced to depart early, adding to Gio van Bronckhorst' s growing list of concerns.

Speaking on BT following the final whistle, Miller said: "It will be soul destroying for them. It’s another heavy defeat at this level against a Liverpool team who were excellent in the second half. I still think looking at a lot of the goals that Giovanni won’t be happy with them.

“More importantly moving forward, the injury to Connor Goldson and Ryan Jack will pave costly, especially the Goldson one. He is the rock back there. He’s barely missed a minute never mind a game over his time at Rangers.

“He’ll be a big big loss. You’ve just got to keep your fingers crossed that it’s not too long out for Connor as he’s the heartbeat of that Rangers defence.

“He holds things together. He’s such an influential player for the people about him.
