Kenny Edwards drops clear hint about Castleford Tigers future beyond this year

Kenny Edwards has admitted he wants to stay at Castleford Tigers beyond this year after his love for the club convinced him to scrap his plans to return home in 2023. Edwards is currently at The Jungle on a season-long loan from Huddersfield Giants, with his current deal at his parent club set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

He had initially decided that this season would be his last in Super League, and he would head back to Australia to be with his family. But the 32-year-old now believes he has at least two more seasons at the highest level left in him, and says that the energy his move across West Yorkshire to Castleford has given him has made him rethink his previous plans to leave England.

"My first option has always been to stay at Castleford," Edwards said. "I love it here, I love the club and I love the staff and the players. My first option is that (staying) and it's always been my number one choice but I've got to let things play out. I would have wanted it done by now but I'll let things play out and my footy will do the talking."

Edwards' time in Super League has been somewhat controversial, and there is a school of thought the forward has not quite replicated the form many expected him to when he initially moved from the NRL to join Catalans Dragons, who the Tigers face this weekend in Perpignan.

But he now says he wants to continue in the top-flight beyond this year, and wants that to be with Castleford.
