Kayne Ramsey Celtic red card blamed on 'baying' crowd amid James Sands Rangers tackle comparison

Pundit Tam McManus reckons the Celtic fans played a big part in Kayne Ramsey's red card at Parkhead.

The on-loan Southampton full-back went in strong on Tom Rogic in the moments after Daizen Maeda put the hosts three in front.

Referee Don Robertson wasted no time in sending him off and the Staggies went on to lose 4-0.

Ross County boss Malky Mackay jumped to his player's defence and blamed the Celtic fans for pressuring ref Don Robertson.

McManus admitted he could see Mackay's point having played at Parkhead - and compared the incident to Rangers ' man James Sands tackle against Dundee's Max Anderson.

The American went into Bobby Madden's book for a heavy challenge with some pundits believing it could have been a red.

McManus told PLZ: “I don’t think it was a red card, and I don’t think it was really reckless.

“I think the lad James Sands had a pretty similar tackle yesterday (Sunday) for Rangers against Dundee.

“He came through the boy and only got a yellow card.

“I just think the roar of the crowd, having played at Parkhead myself, when you go into a tackle there are 50-60,000 baying for a red card.

“Sometimes the referees can buckle, and I thought the referee was very quick to get his red card out. It wasn’t a red for me.”
