Kate Ferdinand 'open to having more children' with Rio and is 'happiest she's been'

Kate Ferdinand is reportedly open to the idea of having more children, despite former England star Rio's reservation.

The couple, who welcomed their daughter Shae last July, had previously stated that "the shop is shut". However, sources suggest that Kate has since changed her mind about expanding their family, reports the Mirror.

The pair also share a three-year-old son, Cree, and Kate is stepmother to Rio's three children from his previous marriage. Insiders have revealed that Kate, 33, is currently the "happiest she has been" and feels that motherhood is "her purpose".

However, they also suggest that 45-year-old Rio would need convincing to have more children. Speaking to Heat magazine, a source said: "He's said absolutely no more kids, and while Kate understands where he's coming from, she doesn't want to write anything off yet. She knows she could at least have a couple more, and while it's not the right time at the moment, she'd love to have the option."

The insider added that Kate loves "nothing more" than being with their family, but Rio, who is 13 years older than Kate, doesn't "have the energy" to have more children. They continued: "She was an only child and loves the fact the kids have lots of siblings, as well as lots of extended family on Rio's side. When she first had Shae, she said she was done, but she's seen how quickly she and Cree are growing up and she misses that newborn bubble."
