Kalvin Phillips on Manchester United shortlist and more transfer rumours

Kalvin Phillips has reportedly urged Leeds to offer him a new deal to stay at Elland Road, after the club blocked offers for him in the January transfer window.

Phillips has been linked with a move to Manchester United as the Reds look to strengthen their midfield options, with an overhaul expected this summer.

The 26-year-old sees his current deal at Leeds expire in 2024, although his performances over the past 18 months – particularly in England’s run to the Euro 2020 final – has seen him attract attention from elsewhere.

According to reports, Phillips was the subject of three rejected offers from West Ham during January, with Leeds said to have blocked a £55million move by the London club.

The Daily Star have suggested though that the midfielder is keen to sign a new deal at Elland Road, and is putting pressure on his hometown club to deliver on their promise. MEN Sport understands Declan Rice is the top of United's shortlist for midfield reinforcements.

Elsewhere, Hull City are looking into the possibility of signing United loanee Di’Shon Bernard permanently this summer, according to Hull Live.

The young defender has made a big impression while on loan with the Tigers, having played a big part in their turnaround in form which saw them move out of the Championship’s relegation zone.

Bernard has made 25 appearances so far this season, and following the takeover of Hull by Acun Ilicali, the club are now looking at the possibility of keeping the 21-year-old beyond this season.

The centre-back’s contract at United runs until 2024, having made the move to Old Trafford from Chelsea’s youth team in 2017.
