Kalvin Phillips' agent sends Aston Villa transfer message as Leeds United put on red alert

Aston Villa are reportedly interested in a summer transfer swoop for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

The England international's future is set to come into question at the end of the season whether Leeds survive the drop or not, with Villa just one of several admirers. The Times have reported that Villa could spend up to £60million on Phillips this summer, while a lucrative wage packet could also be used to tempt him away from Elland Road.

Leeds is of course Phillips' boyhood club and the midfielder has expressed no desire to part ways this summer. In fact, his agent Kevin Sharp claims he has "no intention" to switch clubs before the start of next season. The 26-year-old was the subject of a late January transfer window bid from West Ham United, but Leeds rebuffed that approach.

Phillips' agent, Sharp, says they now expect Leeds to make good on their promise of offering a new and improved, extended deal. Sharp said: 'Kalvin was pleased that Leeds turned those offers down.

"He has never asked to leave Leeds in all his time with the club and has no intention of doing that now or in the summer. But I understand the offer that was turned down would have been a record for both buying and selling clubs.

"So I would hope that Leeds would honour their promise of a new contract for him which would then end any unsettling speculation about his future this summer." Phillips signed a five-year deal at Elland Road after Villa failed in an attempt to sign him in the summer of 2019 - following promotion back to the Premier League - but the midfielder has not penned fresh terms since.

The Times now claim that Leeds are set to move to tie Phillips down to a new and improved long-term contract in the wake of recent transfer
