Kaizer Chiefs flirt with club's worst-ever finish after TS Galaxy draw

Kaizer Chiefs continue to hang on by a thread after a 2-2 draw against TS Galaxy FC in their DStv Premiership encounter at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Tuesday.

After sitting 1-1 at half-time, a 10-man Kaizer Chiefs led until the 78th-minute before TS Galaxy struck back.

Chiefs were looking to bounce back stronger after their humiliating 5-1 defeat at the hands of newly crowned title winners Mamelodi Sundowns.

Cavin Johnson's side was the first one to break the deadlock in the 18th minute through a free kick by Ranga Chivaviro.

However, TS Galaxy replied and cancelled Chiefs' lead with a goal by Siphiwe Mahlangu, who slotted the penalty despite keeper Bruce Bvuma going the right way.

Following the break, Edmilson Dove shot himself in the foot as he was shown his second yellow card and left Chiefs one-man down.

Chiefs won a set-piece that saw Chivaviro score in the corner and complete his brace. But Chiefs' defences fell and TS Galaxy equalised again through Mahlangu, this time with a header.

Kaizer Chiefs fail once again to register a win and could only salvage a point to remain in a precarious eighth position on the PSL standings. Just three points separate Amakhosi and 12th-placed AmaZulu FC.

Kaizer Chiefs have never finished worse than ninth in the PSL.

Scorers:

Kaizer Chiefs 2 (Ranga Chivaviro x2)

TS Galaxy 2 (Sphiwe Mahlang x2)
