Kaiser Chiefs to headline free gig for key workers

A free event for key workers is being held at the AO Arena next month, with headliners including Kaiser Chiefs. The Big Thank You will happen on April 26, and if you’re a key worker, you can register for tickets now.

So that includes anyone from NHS staff to bus drivers. Playing alongside the Kaiser Chiefs will be Tom Walker, The Vaccines and Isaac Stuart.

The events are part of a three date UK tour, also stopping in Glasgow on April 25 and in London at Wembley on April 28. Other acts joining the bill for the other dates include the likes of The Fratellis, Tom Grennan, Del Amitri and David Gray, with some more guests yet to be announced.

Once registered, tickets - around 35,000 of them across the three venues - will be allocated using a ballot system. Applications will close on April 8, and you can register for tickets here.

Mike Cass, content director for Virgin Radio, which is putting on the event, said: “At Virgin Radio UK, we wanted to do what we could to celebrate our key workers and thank them for everything they have done for us all during the pandemic. The Big Thank You Tour will be one big rock star thank you, from some of the best names in the business with lots of great music.”

The shows have been put on with help from the UK Government's Live Events Reinsurance Scheme, an initiative devised last year to help the live music and events industry in the wake of the pandemic.
