Justin Langer’s time as Australia’s coach is over. Here’s a look back at his time in the top job

Justin Langer’s tenure as coach of Australia’s men’s cricket team has come to an end, following months of speculation.

Langer’s management group confirmed on Saturday their client had tendered his resignation, effective immediately.

“DSEG confirms that our client Justin Langer has this morning tendered his resignation as coach of the Australian men’s cricket team,” the management group posted on Twitter.

“The resignation follows a meeting with Cricket Australia last evening.

“The resignation is effective immediately.”

Following the announcement, Langer’s ex-teammate Ricky Ponting slammed Cricket Australia over it’s treatment of Langer, labelling it as “embarrassing”.

“It’s been a really poor six months with the way Cricket Australia have handled some of the better people in Australian cricket,” Ponting told ABC.

“Those being Justin Langer and Tim Paine (at the start of the summer).

“I think it’s been almost embarrassing the way they handled those two cases.”
