Aston Villa took a very comfortable win from Southampton yesterday when they hosted them at Villa Park yesterday, in an attacking performance that saw Steven Gerrard’s side find the back of the net four times.

Danny Ings, Ollie Watkins, Douglas Luiz and Philippe Coutinho all bagged themselves a goal on Saturday afternoon, ending Ralph Hasenhuttl’s five-game unbeaten run by taking all three points and a clean sheet from the clash.

Despite an easy win for the Villans with plenty of goals to enjoy, one player did let down his manager in the game, with Jacob Ramsey considerably underperforming throughout the game.

According to SofaScore, the midfielder gained the lowest rating in the starting line-up (6.5), losing over 60% of his duels, imposing no attacking threat with no crosses, no key passes, no shots on target and the youngster was dribbled past five times before he was finally benched in the 77th minute by his coach, and replaced with Leon Bailey.

The £13.5m-rated star has become a rising talent at the club and has thrived under his new manager so far, scoring five goals this term. But the young player struggled to impose himself on the Southampton side and failed to offer an attacking presence for his teammates ahead of him during his game time.

There was concern before the game that the 20-year-old could be starting to “feel the pinch of the Premier League”, with Noel Whelan suggesting that Gerrard should bench the player ahead of the Southampton game, and as a result of the performance Ramsey put on it looks like the BBC Radio Leeds pundit was right.
