Jurgen Klopp responds to latest suggestion Steven Gerrard could replace him at Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp hasn't ruled out the possibility of Steven Gerrard replacing him as Liverpool boss in the future.

The 54-year-old recently signed a new contract which will keep him at the Reds until 2026 - meaning he will become the first Reds manager to have lasted over a decade in charge since Tom Watson in the early 1900s. Klopp previously suggested he would be leaving in two years' time, but has committed his long-term future to the club.

During his time at Anfield, Klopp has lifted the Premier League, the Champions League and the League Cup, and has the opportunity to complete the set when his side face Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday. They could still also win the quadruple this season should they beat the Blues, Real Madrid and if results go their way in the league.

However, next on their agenda is a trip to Gerrard's Villa on Tuesday. When asked about whether the former Liverpool midfielder could replace him, Klopp was coy about the potential move.

He said: "My possible successor? Yes, of course, it's possible. I have no idea, it's not my decision to make. So I think it's possible, that's it."

Liverpool currently sit three points behind leaders Manchester City in the Premier League with three matches to go following their 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. Heung min-Son gave Spurs the lead mid-way through the second-half, before Luis Diaz equalised for the Reds.
