Jurgen Klopp makes COVID admission after three Liverpool players missing from training

Jurgen Klopp kept his cards close to his chest when offering an injury update ahead of Liverpool's Premier League clash with Brighton.

Ibrahima Konate missed the Reds' defeat to Inter Milan in midweek, and was absent from training on Thursday along with Virgil van Dijk and Thiago Alcantara.

But despite their absence, Klopp confirmed Liverpool have no new injury updates ahead of Saturday's game, though hinted at a new Covid-19 outbreak at the club.

"We had a few little things but so far nobody is out of training," he told reporters. "On top of that, Covid is not over.

"These kind of things we have as well. Or had, we will see. We try everything to avoid this but it's not really possible.

"Players and staff who have had it now with no symptoms. That's good but they can't be involved. We will see. They come later today.

"We train a little bit later and they are not here yet. So far I haven't had any news injury-wise. They should all be ready."

While Klopp was cagey when asked about Van Dijk's absence from training, he did confirm that Roberto Firmino was available to face Brighton.

"Yeah, he's (Roberto Firmino) back," the German said.

The Brazilian hasn't played since suffering a muscle injury away at Inter Milan last month but returned to training himself earlier this week.
