Jurgen Klopp criticises Tottenham’s tactics after Liverpool draw

Jurgen Klopp has criticised Tottenham’s tactics and says Antonio Conte’s side ‘should do more for the game’ after their 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Saturday evening.

Liverpool endured a frustrating game at Anfield and went behind through Son Heung-Min’s goal in the 56th minute. Luis Diaz scored the equaliser but Klopp’s side were unable to find the winner.

The result means that Manchester City now have the chance to go three points clear at the top of the Premier League if they beat Newcastle United on Sunday.

Klopp, meanwhile, fired a dig at Spurs’ approach to the game after the match, pointing out that Conte’s side remain fifth in the table.

‘For all the praise for Tottenham, a world class opponent, they won against City, the game play works for these games but they are still fifth and for everything they were time-wasting, it makes not easier, it’s smart but not easy,’ said Klopp.

In his post-match press conference, Klopp added that he had a ‘personal problem’ with teams who willingly adopt a defensive approach.

‘I am sorry, I am the wrong person to ask about because I don’t like this kind of football,’ Klopp said when asked about Spurs’ approach.

‘But that is my personal problem. I think they are world class and I think they should do more for the game.

‘It’s a game against Liverpool, they have 36 per cent possession. But that is my problem. I cannot coach it. So that is why I cannot do it.

‘World-class players, block all the balls. It is really difficult.
