With much being said about Liverpool’s squad depth in recent weeks after welcoming a number of players back from injury and signing Luis Diaz in January, it was no surprise to see Jurgen Klopp ring the changes against Norwich City on Saturday.

The German made seven changes to the side that had beaten Inter Milan in midweek as Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and Luis Diaz were all rewarded with starts after their impressive midweek cameos at the San Siro, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also coming into midfield.

Meanwhile, it was all change at full-back as Joe Gomez was handed his first Premier League start of the season and Kostas Tsimikas came in at left-back, with Joel Matip partnering Virgil van Dijk at the heart of defence.

One of the changes was forced on Klopp after losing Diogo Jota to an ankle injury, while the Reds were also without Roberto Firmino due to a muscle complaint with the duo now facing a race against time to be fit for next weekend’s League Cup final.

But before that trip to Wembley, Liverpool host Leeds United in their game in hand at Anfield on Wednesday night as they look to close the gap on Man City at the top of the table to just three points.
