Julianna Pena vs Amanda Nunes Predictions: UFC 277

Julianna Pena vs Amanda Nunes for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship at UFC 277 is arguably the biggest fight and rematch in Women’s MMA history, but what on earth is going to happen?

UFC’s official website has the current Champion Pena down as the underdog at +230 on her to win as opposed to -275 for the former Champion and arguably Women’s MMA GOAT, Nunes.

The first contest between the two 135-pound fighters back in December 2021 had a shocking finish when Pena took the win via rear-naked choke, but can we see the same thing happening at UFC 277?

Here are our predictions for the massive UFC 277 main event between Amanda Nunes and Julianna Pena on Saturday, July 30th 2022.

Whilst Pena was able to pull off one of the biggest upsets in the history of the sport, it is really difficult to look beyond Nunes here.

Nunes revealed after the first contest that she had some lingering injuries and a fight camp ahead of the contest that was lacking.

The ‘Lioness’ said to ESPN (via MMAFighting) back in February 2022: “Both knees were pretty bad and I wasn’t able to recover and I went through. Every time I was training back home, the next day I couldn’t even walk. But I don’t want to make excuses. I did that. I paid for my mistakes, but I want to do a full camp, and I didn’t.

“I needed time off. I could not turn or do all the things that I have to do, like do jiu-jitsu and wrestling. I was pretty much only doing hands, like striking or whatever for conditioning. I only used my arms, so that cost me my belt.”
