Juan Mata plotting Man Utd revenge with move to Premier League rival a distinct possibility

Juan Mata could line up against Man Utd next season after a report revealed the prospect of playing for a Premier League rival has been considered.

The Red Devils recently confirmed Mata will depart the club when his contract expires on June 30. The Spanish playmaker, 34, spent eight-and-a-half years at Old Trafford, though saw his influence decline greatly as the seasons came and went.

Indeed, Mata was afforded a paltry 409 minutes of action across all competitions last season.

Manchester United were reportedly left disappointed when learning Mata spurned the opportunity to take a role behind the scenes.

But according to the Times, the idea of joining another Premier League side has not been ruled out.

The outlet state Mata could yet remain in England’s top flight despite receiving offers from La Liga sides.

Mata is yet to make a concrete decision on where he wishes to go next, though the general feeling from the player is that he still believes he can contribute at Premier League level.
