Journalist tips Leeds interest in "incredible" Premier League ace "Marsch knows all about"

Leeds United could revive their interest in Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino as it’s a position they ‘need to strengthen’, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 27-year-old has struggled for game time since arriving on English shores back in January 2020 and has been linked with a permanent move away from Anfield in recent months as a result.

According to The Mirror, Leeds saw a late approach for Minamino turned down by Liverpool in the January transfer window with Jurgen Klopp unwilling to weaken his first-team squad.

The report claimed that the west Yorkshire outfit had identified the “incredible” attacker as an alternative to Brenden Aaronson after RB Salzburg reportedly rejected two bids for the USA international.

However, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane still at the Africa Cup of Nations, the Reds were unwilling to do a deal at the halfway stage of the season.

But Liverpool may change their stance over Minamino when the market reopens in the summer given the arrival of Luis Diaz and their ability to replace the 37-cap Japan international.

In his two-year spell on Merseyside, the diminutive ace has registered 13 goals and just three assists in 53 appearances and has failed to start a single Premier League game so far this season.
