Joshua vs Fury vs Wilder: Eddie Hearn went viral with resume comparison tweet
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and when looking back at Eddie Hearn’s promotion of the peculiar Anthony Joshua vs Jarrell Miller fight, we can’t help but notice how boxers are compared, even when they’re not fighting each other.
One of Britain’s favourite personalities in AJ was set to fight in his US debut at Madison Square Garden against Miller. Tensions rose during the press conference, with the American displaying an explosive personality.
The fight’s announcement reached mixed reception. Many were upset that the original fight, thought to be between fellow compatriot Dillian Whyte, was scrapped in place of Miller.
It was up to the other, perhaps bigger personality of manager Eddie Hearn to promote the fight, and he did so with a cryptic tweet comparing the records of Joshua, Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury after their first 23 professional fights.
Joshua had beaten seven unbeaten opponents, four Olympians and four world champions, making Wilder and Fury’s statistics pale in comparison.
Many were quick to jump on the fact that the athletes were in different stages of their career. With Fury beating the likes of Wladimir Klitschko in his 25th fight. Meanwhile, Wilder was still beating Luis Ortiz and defending from Tyson Fury at his 40th and 41st fight.
