Jordan Hugill makes Norwich City revelation amid Cardiff loan spell
Jordan Hugill says he is hoping to make an impression at Norwich City in pre-season, following his success on loan at Cardiff.
Following Norwich’s promotion to the Premier League last season, Hugill was loaned to West Brom in the summer transfer window.
But having scored just once in 20 games for the Baggies, the striker switched loan destinations in the January transfer window, joining Cardiff on a temporary basis until the end of the season.
Since then, Hugill has made 12 appearances and scored three goals for the Bluebirds, including the winner in his side’s 2-1 victory over Stoke on Wednesday night.
Despite his success in the Welsh capital however, it seems Hugill is still hoping to force his way back into the picture at his parent club for next season.
Asked whether he expects to be playing for Cardiff again next season, the 29-year-old told Wales Online: “We would have to see what would happen.
“Obviously, I’ve got a year left at Norwich and I’d like to see what would happen there first. I’ve got a good pre-season planned with them initially. So, it’s not down to me, it’s down to who wants me.
I’m just focusing on playing well, finishing this season, getting as high up in this league as we can and then, ultimately, I’ll be going back to Norwich and hitting the ground running with them, because that’s my parent club.”
Norwich currently sit bottom of the Premier League, five points from safety, but it seems Hugill has not given up hope of playing for the Canaries in the top-flight next season, as he added: “I don’t really worry about what’s going on there. I’m here and I’m focused on this. Honestly, I’d love for them to stay up and then it gives me a fresh chance in the Premier League – that would be ideal.
