Jones looks back on triple ASBK triumph

Mike Jones claimed his third Australian Superbike Championship last month, with his third manufacturer, Yamaha.

Six wins and six further podiums from the seven rounds saw the Queenslander victorious in dominant style, 52 points clear of runner-up Wayne Maxwell.

“It’s been a massive week after the final round with a heap of media commitments and people offering me their congratulations,” Jones said after the finale at The Bend. “The support from the industry, my friends and family has been overwhelming and I’m thankful to everyone who has reached out. It truly means a lot.

“I’m proud to be able to bring this one home for myself and for the Yamaha Racing Team,” he continued. “It’s been a few years for them but that doesn’t mean they haven’t always worked hard. Kevin, Dyllan, Joel and everyone on Cru’s side of the garage contribute to a championship like this and I hope they all feel proud of the success we have been able to achieve this year.
