Jon Moxley to fight for Interim AEW World Title at Forbidden Door

After CM Punk’s unfortunate injury announcement last week on AEW Dynamite, we knew that the Interim AEW World Championship was on the line at Forbidden Door. 

Last night on AEW Dynamite, it was confirmed that the main event would see the winner of the Casino Battle Royale go one-on-one with number one ranked and former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley.

 The Casino Battle Royale would kick off the show, featuring some of the best talents in AEW. There were valiant efforts from the likes of Andrade El Idolo, Darby Allin and Swerve Strickland. 

However, the final two would come down to ROH Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta, who made his appearance since being in Japan for the past month, and The Undisputed Elite’s Kyle O’Reilly.

Yuta looked as if he had the match and would challenge his Blackpool Combat Club mentor and partner Jon Moxley in the main event but Yuta would come up short, and O’Reilly would prevail as the victor. 

Before the match manager of the Blackpool Combat Club William Regal reunited with O’Reilly, Bobby Fish and Adam Cole and sent a warning of what Jon Moxley is going to do to O’Reilly while also showing his respect to both members of reDragon. 

Moxley and O’Reilly’s bout demonstrated the expert technicality that both men had in their arsenal. 

O’Reilly would dissect the limbs of Moxley and would match him with resilience and strikes, much to the delight of William Regal on commentary.

In the closing moments, the endurance of Moxley would be too much for O’Reilly as he would use ring awareness to shift from a bulldog choke to twelve to six knees and topped off with the paradigm shift to pick up the victory and book his place at Forbidden Door.
