Jon Dahl Tomasson offers new season verdict on Blackburn Rovers January transfer signing

Jon Dahl Tomasson believes attacker Ryan Hedges has started the new season brightly for Blackburn Rovers as he feels the January signing is now settled at the club.

Hedges was one of the last players brought to Rovers by the club's previous boss Tony Mowbray. He joined from Aberdeen in the January transfer window on a three-and-a-half year deal.

The former Barnsley man was in and out of the Ewood Park side's team in the second half form last season as he adjusted to life at his new club. He has started the first two games of the season under new boss Tomasson.

The most recent of these came in the win over Swansea City yesterday afternoon. In both games, Hedges has adopted a central attacking role for Tomasson's side from the start.

The Rovers boss believes the winger has now settled at Rovers following his winter move. Tomasson also explained the positioning of the player and how he has been able to create problems for opposition sides in that central role when Rovers have possession.

Tomasson said: "Of course I did my homework before coming to Blackburn Rovers regarding formation, the way of playing and the players. Ryan came in I think in December in the winter, so he hasn't had many games.

"He played in the end a bit. You always need to settle when you come to a new club as well but I think he had two good games so far.

"I think if you look at the game plan, you know they have a lot of movement and Ryan is a clever player so I thought it was the right solution to put him there central for defensive parts because he's clever to do the right things at the right moment which you all saw today.
