Johnny Kenny on post Celtic transfer 'rough patch' as he reveals Covid blow and behind the scenes Ange Postecoglou talks

Disappointed Johnny Kenny has opened up on the false start at Celtic and behind the scenes chats with boss Ange Postecoglou.

The 18-year-old left Sligo Rovers to pen a five-year deal at Parkhead but hasn't got going with the Premiership title hopefuls yet.

But he hasn't had his chance to make an impression on the team having picked up an injury and becoming a Covid close contact.

Kenny is raring to go once he can climb off the sidelines and he revealed that Postecoglou has kept in constant contact with him through his early Celtic struggles.

He told The Sligo Way podcast after his move: “I had a rough patch because I’m injured now for a few weeks and I’m just out of self-isolation.

"I’m on the hunt for an apartment now. I love it over here but I need to get an apartment now to settle down.

“My driver that brings to me to training had Covid so I had to isolate for 10 days.”

He added on Postecoglou and the feeling around Celtic Park : “It’s very good to be fair.

"He’s come in and he’s done a real job there, up the top and they won the trophy about a month ago.

“He’s good, he’s very good. On the pitch, I haven’t been with him yet if I’m being honest, but off the pitch he helps me.

"He’s told me that if I stick at it then I’ll get my rewards and he’s been great in bringing me to the club.

“I think everyone’s behind him.”
