Chelsea legend John Terry has congratulated Edouard Mendy after his Africa Cup of Nations heroics helped Senegal to win the tournament for the first time in their history.
The final against Egypt went to penalties following a 120 minute stalemate, with Senegal being the better of the two sides from twelve yards, winning 4-2.
Mendy stopped Mohanad Lasheen with a superb save to his right to set the stage for Liverpool man Sadio Mane. The winger kept his nerves to slot home, resulting in Senegal's first ever triumph in the competition.
Chelsea's shot stopper was consequently crowned as the best goalkeeper at the tournament, meaning he's now added another individual award to his cabinet, shortly after winning FIFA's Best men's goalkeeper of the year in January.
His excellence has earned him praise from current and former players, pundits and fans alike, with Terry the latest to send him a congratulatory message for his tournament final heroics.
As seen on Twitter, Terry said: "Congratulations mate. What a year this man has had."
The tweet was accompanied with a 'trophy' and 'gloves' emoji, as well as an image of Mendy sitting next to all the awards he has achieved in the past twelve months.
Mendy's been sensational since joining Chelsea and deserves the praise he has received.
