John Terry responds to Wayne Rooney saying he wore longer studs to hurt Chelsea legend

John Terry has admitted he didn't care that Wayne Rooney wore longer studs to "hurt someone" during a Premier League fixture at Stamford Bridge in April 2006.

The ex-striker made the sensational admission in his new Amazon documentary.

The game in question was between Terry's Chelsea and Rooney's Manchester United, with the latter needing to win to stop the Blues from lifting a second successive title.

Terry suffered a nasty injury after a strong tackle from Rooney. The United ace ironically went on to break a metatarsal in the same game.

Many people were stunned by Rooney's revelation, as he was due to link-up with Terry at international level for the World Cup just a couple of months later.

The FA have warned the Derby County manager of his conduct following the story.

When asked if he cares about Rooney's revelation on Instagram, Terry said: "Of course not. We know each other well enough and had many battles over the years.

"Two stitches at half time, there was no way I wasn't coming out for the second half to win the league beating Manchester Utd 3-0."

Discussing that game, Rooney said: "I always wore the old plastic studs with the metal tip.

"For that game, I changed into big, long metal ones, the maximum length you could have because I wanted to try to hurt someone, to try to injure someone.

"I did it because John Terry left the stadium on crutches.

"I left a hole in his foot and then I signed my shirt to him after the game... and a few weeks later I sent it to him and asked for my stud back!

"If you look back on the pictures after the game, JT is celebrating - but he’s on crutches from that tackle.
