John Stones makes admission about Man City legend David Silva

Manchester City centre-back John Stones has suggested that club legend David Silva was 'underrated' as he reflected on his relationship with the Spanish midfielder.

Silva won 11 trophies during his time with City, including four Premier League titles. The Spaniard, who made over 400 appearances for the Blues since joining from Valencia in 2010, is considered an all-time great at the Etihad was honoured with a statue outside the ground in recognition of his 10 years of service to the club.

The midfielder was a popular member of the dressing room during his time in Manchester, and his former teammate Stones has spoken glowingly about the World Cup winner.

Stones made 101 appearances alongside Silva for City, with the pair being on the winning side together on 71 occasions. The England international has since suggested that the 36-year-old Spaniard was a 'top guy and an incredible player'.

"He was so... I don't know if to say underrated in some respects, he went and did his job in football and loved it and did it so well, you didn't really hear about him after that," Stones said on GOAL's Kit Collector series.

"Top guy, incredible player, I think he bought into the English culture really well and got the banter and there's still stuff in my locker that he left me. I think he bought me a Spain book with the two Euros that he won and the World Cup just to rub it in my face!"

Since leaving City to sign for Real Sociedad, Silva has registered four goals and nine assists for the LaLiga club. The 36-year-old was part of the side that defeated Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Europa League last month.
