John Fury left Mike Tyson broken with comments that had boxing icon reaching for tissues
John Fury almost moved Mike Tyson to tears when he told him how his son, Tyson, was named after him.
As Iron Mike prepares for a bout with Jake Paul next month, his namesake, Tyson, is also gearing up for a rematch with Oleksandr Usyk in December. But it was the emotional revelation on 'Boxing Arabia' that caught the former heavyweight champion off guard.
In a resurfaced clip from 2023, Fury Sr shared the story behind his son's name, which nearly brought the boxing icon to tears. During the show, John sat beside 'Iron' Mike and expressed his long-standing admiration, saying: "I have waited 35 years to meet this man."

He recounted waking up at 3am to watch Tyson's fights back in the 1980s, but his respect extended beyond mere fandom, reports the Mirror. In a moment that visibly moved Mike, Fury Sr disclosed the inspiration behind his son's name.
"I said, 'hear these words. [Tyson Fury's] not only going to live. He's going to be seven feet tall, 20 stone, and the next heavyweight champion of the world, and his name is Tyson'," John said.
The interview then took an unexpected turn when an overwhelmed Iron Mike pushed the microphone away, reaching for tissues to wipe his face and called for a halt, exclaiming: "Time, time, stop, stop."
