John Cena: Disappointing update on ex-WWE Champion's immediate future

An update has emerged on John Cena’s immediate future within WWE, and it’s going to come as disappointing news for fans of the multi-time World Champion.

John Cena was brought back to WWE for the June 27 episode of Monday Night Raw, being welcomed to the ring by ex-WWE CEO Vince McMahon.

John was brought in his 20-year WWE career, with the 45-year-old making his main roster debut on the June 27 episode of SmackDown back in 2002.

There was a lot of speculation at the time that Cena would be facing Theory at SummerSlam the following month, but that didn’t happen, despite teases of a match during John’s return.

While reports have suggested that the match is going to happen at WrestleMania 39 in April 2023, some fans remain adamant that WWE is going to look to book it sooner.

A popular theory amongst fans was that the match was going to go down at Clash at the Castle on September 3, but Cena has shut that down over the weekend.

Cena was in Cardiff for Comic-Con at the weekend, and was asked about whether or not he was going to be at the WWE Premium Live Event in the UK next month.

John said, via WrestleTalk, that he isn’t going to be at the show, which has come as a blow to WWE fans who were hoping to see him.

I’ve been coming to Cardiff to fight for 15-plus years, and every time, it’s exciting and amazing. I’m not going to be at Clash.

With WrestleMania 39 taking place in Los Angeles, and being WWE’s biggest show of the year, really don’t be surprised to see Cena brought back.

The show could be even bigger than usual for WWE, with recent reports suggesting that WWE is still “100%” set on having The Rock at the show, which you can read more about by clicking here.
