Johan Cruijff ArenA to host Ireland versus The Netherlands Euro 2024 qualifier

The Johan Cruijff ArenA has been confirmed as the venue for the Republic of Ireland's closing Group B qualifier, with the game due to take place in Amsterdam on Saturday 18 November 2023.

The Boys in Green have visited the stadium twice in this century, taking a point from a 2002 World Cup qualifier there in September 2000.

Mick McCarthy's side had been two up in that game after goals from Robbie Keane and Jason McAteer, but they couldn't hold on as Jeffrey Talan and Giovanni van Bronckhorst found the back of the net for Oranje.

Nearly four years later, in June 2004, Keane scored again as Ireland won a friendly ahead that summer's European Championships in Portugal, where the Dutch went to the semis.

The Republic begin their qualifying campaign in late March with the daunting prospect of France in Dublin. The Netherlands are due at the Aviva Stadium on 10 September.
