Jets player taken off field in ambulance during training camp joint practice with Buccaneers

Shawne Merriman details why he believes NFL training camps now are not preventing more injuries due to players not being in football shape.

A scary moment occurred in New Jersey on Tuesday when a joint training camp practice between the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers was halted due to an apparent medical emergency.

A Jets player, later revealed to be cornerback Qwan'tez Stiggers, was taken off the practice field at the team's facility in Florham Park in an ambulance.

According to ESPN, Stiggers was given an IV while on the turf.

Head coach Aaron Glenn said Stiggers came to the bench after a play and "passed out" but was conscious. Glenn then praised the medical staff.

Glenn added that Stiggers is "able to talk" and is "for the most part...good."

Temperatures in Florham Park were reaching 85 degrees on Tuesday and had approached triple-digits over the weekend.

It was quite an eventful practice, as at least three fights broke out, one of which even included Stiggers.

Stiggers did not attend college but instead played for the Fan Controlled League out of high school. From there, he spent a season in the Canadian Football League playing for the Toronto Argonauts.
