Jet2 suspends flights to Poland amid war in Ukraine

Jet2 has announced that it is suspending flights to Poland as war continues in Ukraine.

All flights to Krakow will be halted from March 24 until May 26, with the airline stating that this is “due to current circumstances”.

The decision comes as Russia continues with its invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24, the Liverpool Echo reports.

More than one million people have entered Poland from Ukraine, fleeing the conflict.

According to the BBC, the flights are also being suspended due to a drop in demand.

Jet2 has reassured customers who are affected that they will receive a full refund.

A Jet2 spokesperson said: "Due to current circumstances, we have taken the decision to suspend our flights and city breaks programmes to Krakow from 24th March up to and including 26th May.

"Where customers are affected by any programme changes, we will automatically cancel their booking with a full refund.

"We are planning a phased restart to Krakow from 27th May and we will of course keep customers updated."

According to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, from March 2 Poland extended a law limiting access until June 20 to areas close to the Belarusian border (approximately 3km) in parts of Podlaskie and Lubelskie Voivodeships.
