Jessica Korda shoots stunning 61 for five-shot lead in Sotogrande
American Jessica Korda shot a brilliant 11-under-par 61 to equal the lowest score on the Ladies European Tour and set the new course record at La Reserva Club Sotogrande in Spain.
The world number 14 eagled three of the four par-fives, with her birdie at the other one of six she registered - but her card was not blemish-free as she dropped a shot at the 404-yard eighth.
However, it was more than enough to catapult her to the top of the leaderboard on day one of the Aramco Team Series - Sotogrande event, which involves an individual 54-hole stroke play tournament taking place alongside a 36-hole team event with each tournament having a prize pool of £419,000.
Her nearest rivals - Belgium's Manon De Roey and Slovenian Pia Babnik - both shot six-under 66s.
Korda's younger sister Nelly, the world number three, was one shot further back after a 67, which included five birdies, an eagle and double-bogey seven.
