Jeddah United crowned champions of Saudi’s U-17 First Division League

JEDDAH: Saudi girls’ youth football reached a landmark moment this week as Jeddah United were crowned champions of the U-17 First Division League in its first season.

The 2025-26 inaugural edition concluded with the final at King Abdulaziz University Stadium, which saw Jeddah United overcome Najmat Jeddah in a penalty shootout after the match had finished in a 1-1 draw.

Both Jeddah United and Najmat Jeddah will now play in the U-17 Premier League.

In the third place play-off match, Al-Angaa defeated Manjaum Al-Mawahib 3-2.

Both Jeddah United and Najmat Jeddah have now earned their place in the U-17 top flight for the 2026-27 season, a reward that reflects the ambition and development both clubs have demonstrated throughout this campaign.

This pathway from the First Division to the Premier League is central to the long-term vision for Saudi girls’ football, giving young players a clear and structured route to higher levels of competition, and ultimately to senior women’s football.

Three standout individuals were recognized for their exceptional contributions during the season: Nada Al-Otaibi (Al-Angaa) took the top scorer award; Lina Jafar (Najmat Jeddah) was named the most outstanding player of the inaugural edition; and Ward Maharji (Jeddah United) grabbed the best goalkeeper award.

Saudi Arabian Football Federation Vice President Lamia Bahaian and the of the Women’s Football Department, Alia Al-Rasheed, attended the final and after the match expressed their pride in the achievements the players had delivered across the competition.
