Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli, Others Will Get Rs 100 Crore In IPL: Ex-CSK Star Claims If There's No Purse Cap

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is fast approaching. The teams are ready with their squads for the prized trophy in the richest cricket tournament in the world. While some squads are pretty much similar to last edition, there are certain teams who went for some big buys in the IPL 2024 auction held last year. Australians Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc went to SunRisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 20 crore-plus amounts. This was the first time that the Rs 20 crore mark was breached.

Talking about huge salaries in IPL, former Indian cricket team star Robin Uthappa said that as many as 10 Indian players can get over Rs 100 crore if there was no salary cap. Currently, the ten franchises are allowed a purse of Rs 100 crore.

"If you have open auction, and there is no limit on purse. Suppose the purse is 1000 crore or 500 crore, we have 10 players who can get over 100 crore. Jasprit Bumrah (one name who will get over Rs 100 crore). Virat Kohli (the second name). Rohit Sharma (third name). Hardik Pandya also. Ravndra Jadeja, KL Rahul. Ruturaj Gaikwad definitely between Rs 80 and 100 crore. Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal also above Rs 100 crore," Robin Uthappa said on News24 Sports.

Robin Uthappa has played for teams like Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals among others in the IPL. He was also member of the Indian cricket team which won the 2007 T20 World Cup.
